How do we use DRA to inform instruction if the purpose is to find an independent level?
The information above describes how information from the assessment should be used to guide instruction. A student can score in the independent range with a score of 97% accuracy and a comparable score on the continuum. There is still a lot of learning that can take place between the 97% accuracy for oral reading and the 16 and 24 points on the continuum. The pattern of circled statements on the continuum identifies areas to instruct, extend, or reinforce.
