How do we prevent the clover from spreading to neighboring lawns?
Answer Hi KC! I LOVE clover! It smells even better than turf grass when you mow it and provides hours of fun, looking for leprechauns (Happy St. Patrick’s Day). It is, indeed, possible to have a successful clover lawn. Obviously you have a good environment for growing clover already. As unfortunate as this sounds, the answer to keeping out those other plants is to dig them up. You don’t have to do it all at once, but dig and don’t pull. My Creeping Charley creeps in from neighbours gardens. If this is the case for you, then maintaining “buffer zones” (flower beds) around your lawn will help keep down those creepers. If you’re inclined to (and I suspect you are not with your little ones and pooch) use chemical weed killers (the kind you usually spray from a bottle, for instance), they are as likely to kill your clover as they are to kill the crab grass. I’m afraid they’re not going to be an option for you. Another really effective tool for catching the “weeds” is a blowtorch. I have to
