How do we make sure that immigrants integrate and become Canadians?
• The new federal stategy for integrating immigrants, coordinates the services of several government departments. The strategy emphasizes language training and helping immigrants learn about Canadian values. It also helps Canadians understand the diverse backgrounds of newcomers. • Employment and Immigration Canada helps immigrants get settled, oriented and receive language training and counselling. • Multiculturalism and Citizenship programs work to improve understanding among different cultures, remove barriers to equal opportunity and full participation, and promote understanding of the rights and responsibilities of Canadian citizenship.
