How do we know wave energy development won’t hurt the marine environment?
We don’t yet have a complete picture of all environmental impacts, which is why OWET is helping fund critical research to better understand wave energy development influence on topics such as whale migration patterns and critical fish habitats. At a 2007 ecological impacts workshop in Newport, Oregon, a list of major issues were identified that need to be researched as wave energy goes forward.
