How do we know the Clean Money and Fair Elections Act will work?
A. Three other states, Arizona, Maine, and as of last fall Connecticut, have adopted clean money elections. In Arizona and Maine, the result has been a surge of diversity in the number of women, minorities, and working people who, no longer dependent on corporate cash, are able to run for office and win. The system has become so popular that every year more candidates participate in the program, and voter turnout has also increased. The systems have withstood court challenges in Arizona and Maine.
