How do we get to Placencia?
There are two local airlines (Maya Island Air and Tropic Air) that have numerous daily flights to the Placencia Airstrip from throughout Belize. . The average flight time is 40 minutes. There are local taxis to bring you to the village (about 2 miles). Avis, Budget and National Car Rentals have branches in Belize City, should you wish to drive to Placencia. Expect the drive to take anywhere from 3 to 5 hours (one way), depending on the road conditions – which vary depending on the weather. There are very few road signs on the route so study your map. The drive on the Hummingbird Highway through the Maya Mountains is quite beautiful. There is a daily scheduled bus service direct to Placencia from Belize City.
