How do we get rid of mold on our suede couch?
I sympathize with you on your sofa. I just threw out a $1200 sofa which had developed mold and mildew odor. It caused severe sniffles and allergies. Generally, there is no way to remove mildew and mold, as they are air born mold spores that you are smelling and are deeply embedded in the swede or fabric, deep down into the stuffing of the cushion material itself. You might want to try dragging the sofa out into the hot sun for several days straight, sometimes this will help to reduce some of the odor. But remember that mildew and mold on and inside a sofa is intensely hard if not impossible to remove entirely. I am sure that you have noticed that the odor is stronger on humid days. This is because mold spores love humidity and are released into the air by the billions. They are considered very unhealthy by doctors. Fabreeze will only hide the odor, not remove it.
