How do we feel confident of Encores modem code before we license it? In other words, how does Encore qualify its modem products?
Encore is a 10-year-old company developing DSP technology and has specialized in it. Encores modem code is completely tested for ruggedness using the standard telecom test equipments. The code is tested for all kinds of line impairments, which are simulated in the connection using equipments such as TAS. The interoperability tests are conducted both at Encores site as well as on the field. For example to test the fax code for interoperability, we have fax machine simulator software called FaxLab, which has the profiles of 110 fax machines world over. The code is tested with every profile apart from actual field trials later on.
