How do we expect Wootton Bassett and Cricklade to change by 2026?
• Wootton Bassett is overshadowed by the nearby large town of Swindon and, whilst it is unrealistic to plan for substantial growth, Wootton Bassett is an ideal strategic location in which to provide some additional employment in order to benefit from its location near to the M4 and Swindon, and also to encourage people to both live and work in the town. • The intention should be for Wootton Bassett to offer a better range of recreational and community facilities for a settlement of its size, which will complement the shops and services already on offer for residents and visitors to the town, and will provide an alternative option to travelling to Swindon. • The future release of RAF Lyneham by the MoD is of great importance to the Community Area.
