When your vet insists you put your cat on prescription food (Science Diet, Purina Urinary, Royal Canin) that they sell to ward off any future problems, refuse and get your cat onto a species approptiate diet of canned or raw food. What you need to do is unconcentrate the urine. To do that you need to stop feeding all dry foods and switch to an all wet diet. Either a canned diet or Raw. Wet food will help flush the system faster so that crystals and bacteria can not form. You can also add dry cranberry extract, just a pinch 2X a day on wet food. And you can try Vitamin C sprinkled on as well. I’ve also had success using Glucosomine and Chrondriton for preventing inflammation in the urethra. Lots of research is currently taking place on this because of the success natural vets have had using it to treat FLUTD.
