How do we capture a physician treating patients for Systemic treatment versus Palliative Care consultations?
CCO has created an internal Palliative Care Physician (00999) specialty code. This code should be used with CCO Program Code (ie. in HCP file) with “PA” for Palliative Program. If a patient does not receive any chemotherapy and opts for Palliative care without treatment, the patient should be captured with a consultation with the Palliative Care Physician (00999) with Palliative Care (PA) as the Visit Program Code in the Clinic Visit entity. If the patient undergoes systemic treatment, they would be consulted by a Medical Oncologist with Systemic Program (SYS) as the Visit Program Code in the Clinic Visit entity, followed by subsequent chemotherapy treatments captured in the Systemic Drug Delivery Event entity.
