How do we assist in providing education and resources for surgeons and interventionalists?
A dual approach to education can be helpful: provide evidence-based information on the benefits of AV fistulae to the surgeons and interventionalists, as well as “empower” patients to share their preferences with the surgeons and interventionalists involved in their individual treatment. The literature and resources available on this website can be helpful. For example, the National Kidney Foundation launched a best practice newsletter in July 2004 that highlights clinical protocols that are successful in improving outcomes, including a theme issue on vascular access.
