How do water bills in the United States compare with other developed countries?
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is a group of 30 countries committed to a market economy and a pluralistic democracy who collectively produce two-thirds of the world’s output. In 2002, OECD issued a report entitled Social Issues in the Provision of Water Services. This report depicts water bills in 18 countries measured as a percent of average household income. Among the 18 countries studied, the United States had the lowest percentage of household income going to water bills.
