How do wait lists work?

Automatic wait lists are processed by the end of the third week of instruction; the department offering the course can add students into a class from a manual wait list through the end of the fifth week of instruction. For additional information, see the Tele-BEARS information on the Office of the Registrar’s website. Wait list status can be viewed on the Tele-BEARS screen through the end of week five of instruction. Be sure to review your wait list status to insure that it’s correct. Students are responsible for confirming and adjusting their schedules, including wait lists, before the deadline.

The program stamps all your entries by date and time: students on the waiting list for a course are in a definite order from earliest to latest requests. The Registrar then considers this and other information, and moves students into the course by their discretion if spaces become available. You may log back into QX Web at any time to see if you have been moved up yet from the waiting list. If you are on a waiting list and then drop that entry from your schedule, this action tells the Registrar that you are willing to forfeit your place in line for that course. If you add yourself to the waiting list again, you will now be at the end of the line instead of in your earlier position.
