How do victims die in the Ring novel?
In simple terms, they see a reflection of themselves horribly ages (described as 100 years in the future) in a reflective surface, and that scares them do death. In more detail, we find out that the victims suffer a heart failure, which is cased by the Ring Virus, which is caused by the cursed videotape. As explained in Rasen, the videotape causes a virus, which is 7 parts smallpox and 3 parts Sadako’s DNA. This virus causes a tumor, which, unless the victim finds a solution to the curse (which, as discovered in Rasen, is NOT copying the tape and showing it to someone else), in exactly one week from the second you watched it, grows so big that it covers the coronary arteria, causing heart failure.
