According to the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance, a nonprofit’s overhead should not exceed 35%. United Way of Greater Los Angeles is well below that with an overhead of 14%. Other similar nonprofits average approximately 18%. (American Red Cross is 22%).
