How do United Methodists view other Christian bodies?
We strive for Christian unity and cooperation. The Constitution of The United Methodist Church declares that “the Lord of the Church is calling Christians everywhere to strive toward unity… through relationships with other Methodist churches and united churches…, through councils of churches, and through plans of union with churches of Methodist or other denominational traditions.” The United Methodist Church is a member of the Consultation on Church Union, the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A., the World Council of Churches, and the World Methodist Council.
