I wanna know how its being done, because you don’t even hear about alot of these people and they be splurging lots of money and cars and clothes. Underground artists do not have to give a record label a majority of their profit like artist signed to a major. A majority of the artists who are signed to a major record label (Bad Boy, Jive, Def Jam) only get about 15% of their album sale profit (after they pay for their own promotion and studio time). This especially applies to new artists. Establish artist usually get more than 15% after their 2nd or 3rd record because they renegotiate their contract.
