How do u stop a young horse from bucking when ridden in company?
I would string a bucking rig on him for your safety for now. Attach a string from the bit where it attaches to the headstall, up through the browband attachment and then down to the saddle on both sides of the horse. Make it tight enough that the horse can carry his head in a relaxed position but no further downward than that. That is for safety now. The other thing you need to do is to train this horse a one rein stop so when all hell breaks loose you still have control and can hold the horse until he calms down. You need to train a horse to this in advance, but it involves disengaging of hips as your bring their head around. If the horse is being a brat and attempts to take the bit from you at that point, come around the opposite quickly and dally it to the horn (had that pulled on me also). Trust me this works and will save your life. Had a mule blow up at a train rambling by and was able to hold him until it passed and I wouldn’t let go until he calmed down enough to walk out of it
