How Do Type 1 Diabetics Feel About Stem Cell Research?

0

So, President-Elect Obama supports stem cell research to find a cure for diabetes. My question is: Would you take the cure if you knew it was found from part of an aborted fetus? I know I would not. I have had diabetes for over half of my life, so I understand all of the different viewpoints. A: There ARE other sources of stem cells other than those obtained from embryos, such as cord blood, bone marrow, and more recent research using cloning techniques with adult cells. I do think government funding should be allowed, since that would facilitate the development of non-embryo stem cell cures. Recent articles concerning this have been published in respectable journals and maazines – the potential cure existing but the governmental bans and lack of funding preventing people from getting it. If the anti-embryo and anti-clone people would back off the emotional blackmail and scare tactics and actually use their brains for a change, we could be much further along than we are now.
