How do Title VI and Environmental Justice relate to CIA?
Title VI refers to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It has come to be a collective term for nondiscrimination statutes with similar wording and protection provided in Title VI; statutes such as the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Age Discrimination Act of 1975, Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987, Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993. Various statutes protect varied groups from discrimination; i.e., race, color, national origin, age, sex/gender, handicap/disability, and creed. As with any law, code, or regulation, government agencies must comply with these statutes or risk being challenged in court.
