How do tiny kelp spores get enough energy to grow???
In kelps, the haploid phase begins when the mature organism releases many spores, which then germinate to become male or female gametophytes. Sexual reproduction then results in the beginning of the diploid sporophyte stage which, if lucky, will develop into a mature plant. above excerpt is from wikipedia . Luck plays its role in further development. It is the universal law that says ‘” The rate of reproductions is inversely proportionate to the chances of survival” So the plants / animals that have slim chances of survival and reaching maturity reproduce prolifically . Kelps also produce huge quantity of spores and gametes hoping that at least a few will acheve their goal!!
