How do they erect and remove a construction crane?
Depends on the type of crane. There are tower cranes, crawlers, self-erecting crawlers, and mobile cranes to name a few. Mobile cranes transport themself to the job site. If they have a lattice boom instead of a hydraulic boom then the boom segments will be brought in on a flat bed trailer and attached to the crane. A crawler that isn’t self erecting will require a second crane to help put it together. The different pieces will come in on semi-trailors and will be lifted off of the trailers and assembled. A self-erecting crawler will have the engine and cab assembly come in on one trailer then it will actually use something to support itself as they back the tracks in under it. Then they will put on their own counter-weights and then attatch the boom. A tower crane requires another crane on the site to erect it. Some of the tower cranes will actually be able to add in additional sections to raise their height. As far as removal it’s the reverse of erection. If the crane isn’t self erec
