As far as the PSSM is concerned, the Jasper Project fits many of the standards that are important in teaching the math of today. For example, the skill of problem solving is a very important part of learning math that the Jasper Project addresses quite well. The PSSM defines problem solving as engaging in a task for which the solution is not known in advance. The challenges within the Jasper Project fit that definition perfectly. In the Rescue at Boones Meadow, the solutions to the challenges are not known until the students attempt to solve them. In fact, the challenges arent known until the end of the video. As the video plays, the students are bombarded with many different real-life math situations. The videos also give the students a chance to extend their knowledge and stimulate new learning.
