How do the Wizard® SV and the SV 96 Genomic DNA Purification Systems work?
The Wizard® SV and SV 96 Genomic DNA Purification Systems are based on the principle that DNA binds to silica in the presence of chaotropic salts. Once cells or tissue have been disrupted and the genomic DNA released, the DNA binds to the silica membrane of the SV columns. Subsequently, the bound DNA is washed to remove the salt and then eluted in Nuclease-Free Water. The samples can be processed by either using a centrifuge or a vacuum manifold for the Wizard® SV Genomic DNA Purification System. However, the Wizard® SV 96 Genomic DNA Purification System can only be processed using a Vac-Man® 96 Vacuum Manifold or other suitable 96 well-format vacuum manifold. When used on an automated platform, vacuum manifolds specific to the workstation may be needed.
