How do the US Senate and Congress work? Could they be made more effective?
Yes, a lot of us would like to see change. EVERYONE thinks our congress abuses the right to determine its own rules and its own salaries. But at this point in our history, we Americans are fascinated with partisanship. People are encouraged to put party above country. So we only bemoan and decry the corruption of the other party, and deny the corruption of our own. If our party is in power, then we are convinced we benefit from their corruption. Corruption thrives when a ‘critical mass’ of people can be convinced it favors them somehow. Of course, in the end, we all lose. Politics has eclipsed policy in the US.
