How do the signals change for vehicles on the street?
The majority of traffic signals in the City are a semi-actuated type. This means that the signal remains green on the main street until a vehicle is detected by means of a wire embedded in the pavement of the approach lanes along the side street. Once detected the signal display will change to service the traffic on the side street.
