How do the services of the MFD compare to that of the LMFR?
National Standards Last summer, a local newspaper reported on 120 fire departments in the tri-state area. According to the report the National Fire Protection Association (“NFPA”) has set a “run time” standard that fire departments reach 90 percent of fires within 6 minutes of an alarm. In 2007, the year studied, the Mariemont Fire Department met this standard. The LMFR, however, did not meet this standard. b) Average Run Times The newspaper study also reported on average run times. In 2007, the Mariemont Fire Department’s average run time was 1:50. In contrast, the LMFR’s average run time was 4:18, or about 2-1/2 minutes longer.
