The respiratory system allows for the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide while the circulatory system brings the blood cells to the various parts of the body. The blood cells are carrying either the oxygen to be exchanged for carbon dioxide at a receiving cell, or carrying carbon dioxide to exchange for oxygen inside the lungs.
