How do the Republican Presidential Primaries work?
The two party system is not something that was created by the founding fathers in the Constitution. It has evolved after the fact with its own set of rules, none of which are written into law. The primary voting system works much like the electoral college system works for the real presidential election. In each state primary, registered party voters choose which Republican candidate they want to run for President. The delegates from that state take their votes for that candidate to the Republican National Convention where they are cast to determine the official Republican candidate. However, much like the electoral college system, the results can usually be predicted in advance of the final primary votes, since many large states will have already completed their primary voting. New Hampshire has been famous for having the first primary each election season, and the nation waits to see the results for an early glimpse of who the front-runner candidates are. But that could change in 200
