How do the quests work in and out of solo areas?
Quests that you receive from talking to an NPC remain on your quest log until completion. For instance, my main girl never did a quest involving finding Gargoyle Fangs, so I can do that quest any time now, or decide that it doesn’t interest me and not do it at all. When you ask about party size for those quests, at this time you are able to enter an area, speak to the NPC, and acquire the quest item. The item drops, with its assignment — “Shatter Gargoyle drops a Gargoyle Fang which is reserved for Gaile Gray” — and it preserves that assignment for the specified amount of time, say 30 seconds, or 45 seconds, to allow the reservee to pick up the item. If you do not complete the given task, you may certainly venture back later on your own, or with a new party, to complete the quest.
