How do the PACE Act an the Human Rights Act affect different uniformed public services?
The Human Rights Act applies to the whole of the public sector the whole of the time. The Police & Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) applies principally, as its name suggests, to the police. Other uniformed services only take PACE into account on the occasions when a criminal investigation is involved in their work routine.
