How do the online EMT and Firefighter courses work?
Self Paced Internet (SPI) courses are asynchronous and include recorded lectures that students access online with no set pace for the course. Powerpoint presentations, videos and quizzes with built in assessment and remediation features are available to the students 24 hours a day. Students are also required to complete interactive online assignments, exams, scenarios, read the textbook and complete a workbook(EMT I85 course does not utilize workbook). The pace for SPI courses are decided by the student. A person who works 60 hours a week will likely need more time to complete the course, while a retired paramedic wanting to become a volunteer EMT B may take less. At the completion of the SPI interactive course, students will come to our facilities for hands on training. The length of time is based on the course and will range from 2 days for a First Responder, 5 days for EMT B and approximately 14 days for a Firefighter I and II NOTE: The online portion of SPI courses MUST be complete
