How do the ocean’s currents form mounds in the ocean water?
Currents produce eddies which cause depressions in the water – currents flow over underwater obstacles such as sea mounts, causing water to rise slightly around the obstacle, and lastly, the momentum of currents as they slow when impinging onto land can raise level slightly. Tides and wind probably have a much larger effect however.
