The adjustable leg consists of two main parts: A bracket which is mounted permanently to the table by screws, and a retractable leg which fits into the bracket. The minimum thickness of the table is 2-1/2″ which is the depth of the bracket. For transport, the legs can either be retracted into the bracket, or removed and carried separately.
