How do the laws affect the buying and selling of firearms and ammunition?

0

The firearms laws state that you must have a licence issued under the Firearms Act 1996 in order to purchase a firearm or ammunition. Your purchase will be limited by your licence to the type of firearm you are authorised to possess and use. Ammunition will be limited to that type of firearm. You may sell a firearm under your Firearms Licence but all sales of firearms and ammunition must be done through a licensed firearms dealer. It is a requirement under the Act that a firearms licence or a permit to acquire a firearm cannot be granted before 28 days from the date the application is lodged. If you need to purchase a firearm or ammunition urgently, you may lodge an application for a permit to acquire a particular type of firearm with your application for a licence.
