How do the internship and capstone work?
The internship is intended to be the student’s last learning opportunity in the M.H.A. program. Students discuss internship opportunities with their advisor and identify the most appropriate learning activity together. The student undertakes the internship at a location convenient for him/her, and submits monthly progress reports to their advisor. At the end of the internship, students complete and submit an Internship Portfolio which consists of a comprehensive self-assessment using the program’s competencies. The capstone is intended to be the student’s culminating project where the student undertakes a project for an agency. The project must utilize skills that the student gained in the M.H.A. program. Again, this is completed at a location convenient for the student. The capstone ends in a formal write-up of the project, and the student’s experience is presented publicly to the agency.
