How do the FOX Saturday blackouts work? Why do they exist?
FOX has paid MLB big money for the *EXCLUSIVE* rights to Saturday afternoon baseball. An exclusive window ensures more eyeballs watching their game, and thus, more advertising dollars. Beginning May 17th, 2008, any game played before 7 PM Eastern on a Saturday falls into the FOX blackout window. FOX will show up to four games each Saturday as part of a regionalized coverage. You will only get the regional game in your area on your local FOX affiliate. There is no way around this blackout, Extra Innings or otherwise.
