How do the current space limitations impact room use at the branch?
The current branch has two community rooms, which were in use 90 percent of prime time in 2009. In fact, the staff turned down 150 requests for use of the community rooms because of previous bookings. Also, there is only one tutoring room in the current branch — which is used more than 20 times per month. There are no isolated spaces for group study work. The staff receives complaints every week about noise from group study and tutoring efforts in the open quiet public area.
