How do the changes in the flood mapping studys findings relate to data generation (real vs. simulated), and how is the level of confidence determined?
Changes in the study results apply only to the design storms. The design storms are by definition, generated data, but the data generation was based on the analysis of real data from 50 thunderstorms and seven general storms. This represents the most complete data set available for analysis that is applicable to South Boulder Creek. The study team is in the process of developing quantitative confidence limits on the design storm discharges.
