How do the biological applications differ from techniques like hot oiling, chemicals and cutting?
These standard oilfield practices are used to temporarily fix production problems. Biologicals are quite distinct from these methods in that they are long-term solutions whose benefits can last for months at a time and work continuously to achieve significant changes in the near-well-bore area and in the oil itself. Viewed in another way, the biologicals set up shop in the near well-bore area and produce ketones, alcohols, surfactants and other chemical reactants which eliminate the need for the operator to supply them. It’s like having a chemical factory in each well.
