How do teachers feel about this “rate my teacher” website?
I’m a teacher and I’ve heard of this website. It’s unfortunate, but the fact is that if I’m doing a good job as a teacher, some of the kids won’t like me. There are some people in this world who don’t want to work hard, don’t want to behave themselves, and don’t want to comply with anyone’s expectations other than their own. If those kids hate me, it’s an occupational hazard. If they write nasty things about me on this website, or on the door in the toilet, or wherever, it says more about them than it does about me. On the other hand, if the straight-A college-bound honor students hate me as a teacher, that probably also says something about my teaching. But, of course, those kids are unlikely to write rude things about me on a website. You can learn a lot about a teacher by which kids don’t like them. You can’t please everyone – that’s life.
