How do students with hearing impairments take notes?
It is next to impossible for the student who is deaf to watch the interpreter and write notes at the same time. A note taker, (a volunteer secured by the instructor at the student’s request at the beginning of the semester) takes notes on “carbonless” notes paper that the student purchases at the bookstore. It is helpful when the instructor passes out study guides that outline the information presented in lecture form.
