How do students sign-up for the small schools and small learning communities?

Students will have an opportunity to select a small learning community or small school, also referred to as a small learning environment, located at their zoned high school campus. Representatives from the students’ zoned high school will meet with 8th graders during the February – March timeframe. Students and Parents will be given selection information and due dates. Information about selecting a small learning community/small school in their enrollment zone will be posted on the schools’ websites in Jan. Selection is primarily based on student interest and campus equity. Though a few of the small learning environments may have additional requirements, most students receive their first choice. All of the small learning environments have a college-preparatory curriculum that offers all of the core classes necessary to graduate from Atlanta Public Schools.
