How do students qualify for GATE?
In Etiwanda School District, to ensure accurate identification of all qualified gifted and talented students, scored from the STAR Test administered in the Spring, are evaluated annually. Point sheets are completed based on these test scores, final grades in Reading and Math, Literacy Assessments and final writing scores. Parents are notified by letter if their child qualfies. Students may also take the Cogat,a cognative abilities test, which the district administers. We hold as many testing sessions in the fall, to ensure everyone who qualifies based on the point sheet, has the opportunity.
