How do students get their USC ID number? What is the difference between a 10-digit ID number and a 9-digit ID number?
For a Summer Seminar student to be issued a USC student ID number, our office must first have received the student’s deposit. Once the deposit is posted on the Account History section of the student’s online portal, we can officially generate a 10-digit student ID number for him or her, which will be shown online in the student’s portal within 3 to 5 business days of receiving the deposit. For the 2-Week Exploration of Architecture students, after we have received their deposit, we issue each student a 9-digit ID number. These 9-digit ID numbers can and are to be used on the Lyon Center Release Form and USCard application (in the place of a 10-digit student ID number for the four week Summer Seminar students). The only difference between the two types of ID numbers is that the student with a 9-digit USCard will have fewer privileges on campus. Namely, those students will not have access to library services on campus, whereas the students with a 10-digit USCard will have that privilege.
