How do stock prices usually react to an upbeat trading results market update?

I bought shares in MRO when they were 93.5. They’re now 129.4 following a very upbeat trading announcement a few weeks ago. Now their interim results are due on 28th August and I’m wondering what sort of effect this is likely to have – particularly after witnessing the effect of Lloyds’ and RBS’s recent statements on their share prices. I’m tempted to just take the profit now and be grateful the sp grew so much, particularly since I don’t like any of the other figures for MRO but I’m interested in your thoughts on the effect of such statements generally. The effects of the recent announcements by the banks make it look like gambling to me.
