How do stimulants affect the brain?
Stimulants effect the brain in many ways! Most of the time they increase levels of Dopamine and Norepinephrine in the Brian. These chemicals often are abused due to Dopamine increasing the pleasure responses in the Brain and Norepinephrine for its effects on mood. That is why people do cocaine or take prescriptions like adderall or ritalin to achieve hit higher than normal pleasure signals in the brain. Just a statistic, a line of cocaine insufflated increases dopamine levels by 150% instantly, and is why it is abused! Most people who are drug addicts that use illegal stimulants actually have ADD/ADHD and are using these drugs to combat the disorder and not even know it!
