How do stem cells cure diseases?
Stem cells are those cells in the body of all multi-cellular organisms, which have the ability of changing into different types of cells. They basically function as a repair system, and divide endlessly as long as the organism in which they are present is living. They are formed in a blank state which makes it easier for them to transform into other tissues, bones and nerve cells as required. When each stem cell divides to produce a daughter cell, the new cell has the option of either remaining a stem cell or changing into a more specialized one such as a muscle or red blood cell. These cells are unique as compared to the other cells in the body as they can develop into any other type of cell that is required by the organism.
