The reason Latin is used for scientific names is that scientists around the world can communicate, exchanging information, research etc. with pinpoint accuracy, and be on the same page ( since there might often be a different local name for an organism in another region or country, in its local language or regional dialect ; thus no chance of error or confusion because of translation difficulties ).
